Nantong Vocational University, founded in 1973 and located in Nantong, Jiangsu province, was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government in 1983 and registered with the Ministry of Education. NTVU is a comprehensive, full-time general higher education institution and one of the country's first public higher vocational colleges.
The university has three campuses: Chongchuan Youth Road, Chongchuan Zhongxiu, and Haimen. It comprises 12 colleges, including Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering, Automotive and Transportation Engineering, Art Design, Economics and Management, and International Cooperation Education (Foreign Languages).
With a total campus area of over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares) and a building area of over 400,000 square meters, NTVU currently has over 1,000 faculty members and nearly 20,000 students. There are 542 full-time teachers, of whom 50.09 percent are professors and associate professors, and among young teachers, 81.52 percent hold master's or doctoral degrees. Over the past half century, the university has trained more than 90,000 high-quality technical and skilled personnel.
NTVU actively promotes the integration of industry and education, cooperation between schools and enterprises, and the integration of science and education. It was one of the first modern apprenticeship pilot units designated by the Ministry of Education. The university promotes the construction of industrial colleges and is the chairman of the Nantong Construction Industry-Education Alliance. It has forged partnerships with well-known companies such as ZTE, SAIC General Motors, Alibaba, and Schneider Electric, establishing the Ministry of Education's ICT Industry Innovation Base, the Alibaba Data Center Training Institute, and the Schneider Electric Nantong Training Center.
NTVU is also striving to enhance its internationalization. It has established friendly cooperation relationships with more than 20 universities and educational institutions in Canada, the United States, and Japan. It has set up overseas vocational education centers in Indonesia and Namibia.
