Lu Qiusheng, deputy director of Shanxi Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology, said the province has decided to make the big data industry an important part of its modern industrial system. He praised Shanxi University for its active response to the provincial Party committee and government’s plan to boost the information sector characterized by big data and digital economy. Jia Suotang, as the president of Shanxi University, says the school will focus on the big data college and research institute for academic studies of the field with reference to major scientific findings in China and abroad, training, and innovative industrialization. The school, he noted, will exert the functions of the college and the institute with full use of its preponderant disciplines including computing science and statistics.
