Wu Dongsheng, a professor from Shanxi University’s School of Economics and Management, recently made a world tour of academic exchanges centered on low-carbon research.

Wu, along with the Chinese delegation, visited nations in the European Union, including Sweden, Denmark, and France, and worked with representatives from international energy agencies, local governments, research institutes, and businesses to come a consensus about the climate change issue. The visiting group also had an investigation tour of cities and towns in the area to learn about their accomplished transformation into low-carbon economies, such as Sweden’s third largest city Malmo, Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen, and the eco-friendly urban project Hammarby Lake City near Stockholm.

The delegation then arrived in Japan to learn more about its successful explorations into the development of low-carbon economies and the status quo of the carbon market through furthered discussions with the state’s government agencies and research institutions, as well as site visits to the rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Kyoto and the environmental protection center.

During his visit abroad, Wu took the opportunity to promote the achievements made by Shanxi University’s economic discipline in response to climate changes.

Also, Wu got the chance to deliver a speech at the interdisciplinary seminar in Beijing and spread Shanxi University and Shanxi province’s influence in low-carbon economic studies even with his full schedule of overseas visits.
