Shanxi University will soon establish a new campus in Xiaodian district, Taiyuan, to improve its campus environment.

According to the newly released layout, the branch, known as Dongshan campus, covers a floor area of some 80 hectares. The new campus will include several colleges and departments, such as an academy of architecture, college of life sciences and school of law.

Teaching buildings, laboratories, dormitories and other public facilities will be built during the first stage of construction. Plants will be grown in the areas surrounding the eight-story buildings, covering 35 percent of the campus area. There will be a parking lot consisting of 605 over ground parking spaces and 900 underground.

The new campus, which has attracted investment of 5.7 billion yuan ($828.54 million), is expected to be completed in 2018.
