Professor Lu Lige from Xi'an Jiaotong University was appointed as a distinguished professor to Shanxi University on March 10.

During a seminar at the University, Professor Lu delivered a speech on the challenges of ideological education, which is a compulsory course for Chinese university students.

He analyzed current problems with the course and offered suggestions to teachers from the Marxism school on improvements that could be made.

A member of the state's Marxism research panel, Lu contributes to the development of Marxist thought, as well as to ideological and political education in China.

"I'll pay close attention to Shanxi University's development and push teaching reforms in the School of Marxism," said Lu.
