A group of students from Shanxi University won the first Shanxi Collegiate Information Security Skills Contest at Shanxi Technology and Business College on June 11 with a final score of 2,845.

Shi Fanjie and Li Xingji, from the School of Software, and Xin Xin, from School of Computer and Information Technology, represented Shanxi University during the contest, receiving funds of 20,000 yuan ($2,926.76) for their winning score.

Organized by the Shanxi Provincial Education Department and China Communist Youth League Shanxi Committee, the event aimed to test the IT skills of students from colleges in Shanxi and train skilled professionals in internet security technologies.

More than 1,800 students from 29 colleges and universities across Shanxi took part in the online tryouts, with 27 teams from 11 colleges entering the final competition.
