Over the past five years, Shanxi University has handled 1,704 programs in the social sciences, or about 340 per year, with research funding of 140 million yuan ($22.57 million). The key programs account for 37.5 percent of the province’s total number. There were 2,466 papers submitted to CSSCI and SSCI, or about 493 a year and the university published more than 500 academic works, 41 of them in 2014.
