Degree-granting programs

Prerequisites

Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen, in good health, above the age of 18, with a valid passport and must abide by Chinese law and Shanxi University regulations and should respect Chinese customs.

Undergraduate: Applicant must have a high school diploma and must have passed the new Level-4 HSK exam.

Master's: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and must have passed the new Level-5 HSK exam.

Doctorate: Applicants must have a master’s degree and must have passed the new Level-5 HSK exam.

Materials:

1. Shanxi University Application Form for International Students. This can be downloaded at http://siee.sxu.edu.cn.

2. Graduation certificate or diploma, either the original document or a certified copy in Chinese or English. Students in a degree program should state the expected graduation date.

3. Official academic transcript up to the present. This should include courses and grades and must be the original or a certified copy in Chinese or English.

4. Personal statement (must be in Chinese, 800 characters for master’s program, 1,500 for the doctoral program). A format can be downloaded from http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/

5. Two recommendation letters from professors or persons with an academic title, at least one of whom has knowledge of your recent academic work. The letter must be the original document in Chinese or English. The letter’s format can be downloaded from http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/;

6. Copy of HSK results.

7. Photocopy of your passport (must be ordinary passport).

8. Resume in Chinese or in English. The format can be downloaded from http://siee.sxu.edu.cn.

9. Guardian certificate. The format can be downloaded from http://siee.sxu.edu.cn. Application materials will not be returned.

Applying

1. Go to the website http://siee.sxu.edu.cn for an Application Form for International Students.

2. Submit the completed application to the International Students Office.

3. The office will review and verify the application materials.

4. Application materials will be passed to the appropriate department for a second verification.

5. The student will be given an examination based on departmental requirements.

6. The Office will announce the names of qualified candidates and their program.

7. The Office will send an Admission Certificate and JW202 Form within one month.
