A delegation from the Canadian Embassy in China visited Shanxi University (SXU) and participated in a symposium with the university's international cooperation and exchange division on Nov 23.

At the symposium, Ma Xiaoxiao, director of the university's international cooperation and exchange division, provided an outline on SXU's current position in its discipline development, scientific research and cooperation.

Han Ruiyong, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Shanxi Provincial Education Department, gave a briefing on the development of education in the province and its cooperation to date with Canada, putting forward suggestions for future inter-school exchanges that would benefit both sides.

Sarah Gross, Canadian commissioner specializing in the education sector, said that the embassy would furnish more opportunities and better platforms for international exchanges between Shanxi University and Canadian universities based on university development, as well as faculty and student needs.

The delegation also visited Shanxi University's history museum, the Yao Dianzhong Art Museum and the SXU library.
