Shanxi University's physics talent training base recognized nationally

Shanxi University's physics talent training base was recently included on the list of "bases of top-notch student training program 2.0 in basic disciplines (2020)" by the Ministry of Education, becoming the first of its kind in North China's Shanxi province.

The top-notch student training program 2.0 was launched by the State and aims to cultivate outstanding natural scientists, social scientists and medical scientists for China's future development by establishing world-class talent training bases in domestic universities. 

The selection of Shanxi University's physics training base indicates that it is among the upper echelons of China's education facilities and one of the country's top student training spots. 

The university's top-notch physics talent training base comprises several physics teaching and research platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Quantum Optics Devices, Collaborative Innovation Center of Extreme Optics and the National Physics Experimental Demonstration Center. The base boasts a high-level faculty team of 20 teachers, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as top national scientific research and innovation teams.

Huang Guitian, president of Shanxi University, said that the university would draw lessons from its successful experiences training elite students at home and abroad when further developing the top-notch physics talent training base. It will cultivate top-notch talent in basic disciplines with a passion for the country, a global vision, strong aspirations, considerable knowledge and a pioneering and innovative spirit.
