SXU's tech achievements on display at Taiyuan summit

Shanxi University (SXU) selected 20 scientific and technological achievements to participate in the supply-demand matchmaking exhibition of the 2nd Jinyang Lake Integrated Circuit and Software Industry Summit on May 11-12 in Taiyuan, Shanxi province.

The university's 20 representative tech achievements involved big data, artificial intelligence, software development and integrated circuits and optoelectronic information industries. 

The achievement display, as part of the celebrations of the 119th anniversary of the university's founding, attracted the attention of many visitors to the exhibition. The majority of the exhibits have good industrialization prospects, and some have been commercialized and applied to the fields of instrumentation and information technological application innovation. 

During the exhibition, Shanxi University had in-depth exchanges with representatives from Huawei Technologies Co and the Shanxi branch of China Mobile Communications Group Co. Also, the university reached preliminary cooperation agreements on coal composition online analysis technology with Shanxi Pengfei Group, on optical field communication technology with Hangzhou Fanxun Technology Co, on smart display technology with AET Displays Ltd, and on internet information security with QI-ANXIN Technology Group Inc.

Shanxi University has accelerated cooperation with governments and enterprises. It is one of China's top 50 typical universities with experience in innovation and entrepreneurship and has the first national innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration bases. 

Over the past three years, the university has jointly established nearly 20 new research and development institutions with cities and enterprises across Shanxi province. These facilities cover big data, AI, biomedicine, coal-based new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, modern agriculture and optoelectronic information industries.

In addition, the university has promoted the commercialization of tech achievements and improved the quality and level of scientific research focusing on Shanxi's 14 major strategic emerging industries. As a result, its capabilities in original innovation and technological innovation have been further enhanced.

"In 2020, we obtained a total of 508 patents authorized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, and undertook major special-tech projects at the national and provincial levels," said Wang Xingjun, director of the technology transfer center of the university's science and technology division.
