Introduction to Yokohama National University

Founded in 1947, Yokohama National University is a research-oriented national comprehensive university headquartered in the Hodogaya-ku ward of Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

Most graduates of Yokohama National University find employment at top companies in Japan. The College of Economics and the College of Business Administration are major education centers for the Japanese financial industry, ranking among the top 20 in their fields in Japan for many years.

Yokohama National University has given birth to many well-known architects, including Ryue Nishizawa, who became the youngest recipient ever of the Pritzker Prize in 2010. 

Overview of the program

Undergraduates and postgraduates of Shanxi University can study at Yokohama National University for one year and can choose to focus on language, literature, art, and business. (Actual professional courses available depend on what is available that year.)

Application requirements, language, and tuition 

1. Application requirements

(1) Love one's motherland, study hard, and maintain good morals and progressive thinking.

(2) Excellent professional performance and no record of bad behavior at school.

(3) Have strong Japanese or English language skills to participate in Japanese classroom activities.

(4) Undergraduate applicants are required to be junior students and remain students at the end of the program; postgraduate applicants must also remain students at the end of the program. Undergraduates and postgraduates who graduated late are not allowed to apply.

(5) Language: TOEFL score of 80 or above, IELTS 6.0 or above, or Japanese N2 level or above.
