Thanks to mild weather and abundant sunlight, Suzhou New District in East China's Jiangsu province is expected to see a bumper harvest of loquats with significant improvement in quality this year.
There are two famous varieties of loquats in SND – Baiyu and Qingzhong. Baiyu loquats, known as the "king of fruit", are both juicy and sweet and have yellow-white flesh, while Qingzhong loquats have golden pulp that tastes a bit sour sweet.
Baiyu loquats are expected to appear on the market on May 10 and be widely available around May 15. Qingzhong loquats will hit shelves a few days later on May 15.
The picturesque Shushan village and the loquat orchard in the Dayang Mountain National Forest Park are the best places in SND to try the fruit.
