Hurry up! Waxberries grown on the mountains of Shushan village in Tong'an town, Suzhou New District have been available for picking since June 9 and will last for only about 10 days.

Every corner of Shushan village is now filled with the sweet and sour fragrance of the dark reddish-purple fruit, a local favorite in every early summer.

Due to the pleasant weather this year, the yield of Suhshan waxberries is expected to reach 500,000 kilograms.

Waxberries are round and large, weighing around 15 grams each, and rich in nutrients.

The pale yellow ones, a rarer species unique to Shushan village, boast a more attractive luster and are sweeter than their dark reddish-purple cousins.

Shushan waxberries, originally called "Chuishan" waxberries, have a history of over 400 years. They became the first product in SND to be certified as an Agro-product Geographical Indication product by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in December 2020. The Shushan Waxberries brand also won national authentication in December 2021.
