The Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates that when foreigners stay in hotels within China, the hotels must register their accommodation in accordance with relevant regulations on the public security management of the hotel industry and submit the foreigners' accommodation registration information to the local public security organs. Foreigners residing or staying in places other than hotels must, within 24 hours of arrival at that location, register with the local public security organs by presenting valid identification either by themselves or through their hosts. To facilitate their accommodation registration, in addition to visiting the local public security organs or police stations, foreigners can also apply at the community police office or foreigner service stations in their area.
Furthermore, Beijing has introduced an online accommodation registration service for overseas individuals. Foreigners in Beijing only need to register using a domestic Chinese phone number, upload identification documents, passport photos, housing information, and other relevant materials to complete the accommodation registration process without needing to visit in person.
After submitting the online registration application, the status of the accommodation registration can be viewed in "My Records". If the registration is successful, individuals can access and print the electronic accommodation registration form through the system. If the registration is unsuccessful, individuals can make necessary modifications as prompted and resubmit it online, or visit the local police station for on-site processing.
