Sino-Philippine ties highlighted at friendship concert

The Philippines Ballet performed at the 2015 Xiamen International Friendship Concert in Xiamen, Fujian province on Oct 29 to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines. The event also marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the consulate general of the People’s Republic of the Philippines. 

Xiamen has maintained political ties with the Philippines since Oct 26, 1984. In 1995, the Philippines set up a consulate in Xiamen. 

The Philippines Ballet was founded in 1969 and is a world-renowned ballet and modern dance performing group. A series of classic dances were performed by the ballet to a captivated audience at the event. 

This year’s Xiamen International Friendship Concert marks the sixth consecutive time that the event has been held since its inception in 2010. It is considered significantly influent diplomatic activities in Xiamen.

The concert was co-hosted by Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal government (XMFOAC), Xiamen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (XMPAFFC) and the Consulate General of the Philippines in Xiamen. 

More than 600 people enjoyed the performance, including Zhan Cangzhou, secretary of politics and law committee of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee and Julius Caesar Aragon Flores, consul general of the Consulate General of the Philippines in Xiamen.
