Rail route to Europe to carry Taiwanese goods

(xmenglish) Updated:2016-03-25

In April the Trans Xiarongou railway will expand to include Taiwanese goods bound for Europe.

"The first batch of goods will be electronic products and computer chips but may eventually expand into fresh foods as well as a wide variety of other transportable goods," said railway deputy general manager Xing Yi. He added that transportation by land is more efficient than and one-quarter the price of ocean freight.

The express railway currently has two regular trains from Xiamen. In June and July the railway will extend to other products from Asia via the modern iteration of the Maritime Silk Road.
