Zhan Cangzhou, president of the Xiamen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, has expressed his condolences to the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen for the death of the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.
The revered and long-serving Thai monarch was pronounced dead on Oct 13 after being hospitalized on Oct 3 and undergoing medical procedures.
Zhan signed a book of condolences to mourn for King Adulyadej and expressed sympathy and solicitude to the Consul General of Thailand in Xiamen.
Zhan said that King Adulyadej was a great friend of China and a supporter of friendly ties between the two countries. He added that with the support of the King and the royal family of Thailand, Xiamen and Thailand had fostered close ties in various areas.
Zhan also praised the“important work” being done by the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen in the process of deepening exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. He pledged to cement China-Thailand friendship and to push for closer ties between Xiamen and the Southeastern Asian country through cooperating with the Thai Consulate General in Xiamen.
Thai Consul General in Xiamen Tajtai Tmangraksat appreciated Zhan’s condolences, which were made on behalf of the Xiamen government.
Li Xiaoping, director of the Xiamen Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, was accompanying Zhan on his visit to the consulate general of Thailand.

China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
