Prajin Juntong, deputy prime minister of Thailand, paid a visit to Xiamen, Fujian province from Nov 7 to 9.

During his stay in Xiamen, the deputy PM attended the opening ceremony of the Sixth Thai-Chinese Strategic Research Seminar, held on Nov 8 at Huaqiao University.

The seminar's theme was "Towards Common Prosperity: 'Belt and Road Initiative' & 'Thailand 4.0'".

Juntong said that relations between China and Thailand have been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The Belt and Road Initiative seeks to further extend the countries' cooperation and mutual interests and will also benefit the economic development of Thailand, he added.

The Thailand 4.0 economic model, initiated by the Thai government, calls for integrated economic development in all aspects with the use of technology, knowledge, innovation and creativity to reduce economic and social disparities.

The model serves as a road map to promote the prosperity of Thailand over the next 20 years, and is conducive to the cooperation between China and Thailand. Thus, the two initiatives are supportive to each other, according to Juntong.

Xu Yousheng, deputy head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, extended a warm welcome to the deputy PM. Xu said that the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative and Thailand 4.0 is conducive to deepening cooperation between China and Thailand in sectors such as agriculture, industry and technology.
