An exhibition of valuable porcelain from Meissen, the oldest porcelain brand in Europe, opened in Gulangyu Foreign Heritage Museum, Xiamen on May 13 in memory of the upcoming 42nd International Museum Day.

The China·Meissen: Meissen Porcelains Exhibition consists of displays of classic collections and fashionable art, and will run until June 22.

Eight antiquities from the Palace Museum in Beijing and History Museum in Shanghai and 26 precious porcelain pieces from Meissen's largest flagship store in China are presented in the exhibition.

In order to help visitors better experience the luxurious scenes created by Meissen porcelain, the Gulangyu museum used 122 Meissen pieces to restore and simulate a dining table of a European King in the 18th century.

The Gulangyu Foreign Heritage Museum, founded by the Xiamen Municipal Government and the Palace Museum, opened to the public in May 2017. It mainly showcases foreign cultural relics from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties collected by the Palace Museum.
