Thai Senate's vice president visits Xiamen

The vice president of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly Surachai Liengboonlertchai led a delegation of 18 members to visit Xiamen from July 1 to 5, to discuss cooperation opportunities in a variety of fields.

Chen Jiadong, chairman of the standing committee of Xiamen Municipal People's Congress, met with the Thai delegation on July 2.

Chen briefed them on the workings of the People's Congress in China and the standing committee of the city's People's Congress.

He said that both Xiamen and Thailand boast a prosperous tourism industry and thus, there are many opportunities for them to cooperate in this field.

He also confirmed that Xiamen will continue deepening its exchanges with Thailand.

Surachai Liengboonlertchai said that Xiamen is a beautiful city and shares many similarities with Thailand.

Liengboonlertchai hopes more exchanges involving various fields between Xiamen and Thailand will be conducted in the future.

The Thai delegation also attended Huaqiao University's graduation ceremony for the 13th Foreign Government Officials' Chinese Class on July 4.

Huaqiao University, located in Xiamen, has organized the Chinese class for foreign government officials for 14 years and trained 845 officials from Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Angola and Surinam.
