A delegation of 30 officers from Niger's Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Xiamen, East China's Fujian province from Oct 24 to 26.

Sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce, aim of the trip was to allow them to witness the achievements made by China over the past four decades since its reform and opening-up by experiencing local residents' daily life.

You Liping from Xiamen's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office briefed them on the main process of Xiamen's reform and opening-up and the city's current social and economic situations.

Yao Jianhong, deputy director of Xiamen's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, answered these Nigerian officers' questions about the city's medical care, basic education, business climate, public service and urban management.

These foreign officers spoke highly of the city's beautiful environment, prosperous economy and complete infrastructure.

Niger is a landlocked country in West Africa named after the Niger River. Over 80 percent of its land area lies in the Sahara Desert and much of the non-desert portions of the country are threatened by periodic drought and desertification.
