At the invitation of the organizing committee of the 2019 China International Fair for Investment and Trade, or CIFIT, Alberto Cordelia and two other entrepreneurs from Genoa, Italy visited Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from Sept 6 to 9.

They attended the Silk Road Maritime Shipping International Cooperation Forum, one of the significant activities during the 2019 edition of the CIFIT, where they talked with representatives from the Xiamen Port Authority, local sports administration and a number of companies, including Xiamen Road and Bridge Sports Industry Group Co Ltd and Hansheng Yacht Building Co.

The Italian entrepreneurs spoke highly of Xiamen's beautiful scenery and high quality business environment and expressed confidence in the cooperation prospects between Xiamen and Genoa.

They also promised to urge the municipal government of Genoa to send a higher level of offical delegation to the next year's event and make contributions to the establishment of sister-city relations with Xiamen

Genoa is the largest commercial port in Italy, the second largest port along the Mediterranean coast, and an important industrial center in the country. Along with Milan and Turin, it is part of the "industrial triangle" in Italy. It covers an area of 327 square kilometers and has a population of about 800,000.

This year's CIFIT saw the signing of 2,100 investment projects worth 559.15 billion yuan ($78.89 billion) and drew the attendance of more than 100,000 representatives from 1,008 industrial and commercial associations in 130 countries and regions.
