Xiamen in East China's Fujian province has made full use of cutting-edge technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to fight the coronavirus outbreak, according to local media reports Feb 25.

The innovative application of high-tech solutions, including AI, 5G, robots and big data analysis, have been widely used at highway toll gates, ports, railway stations and airports, and have played important roles in tracing patients' contact history and monitoring travelers' health status.

The government has launched the Xiamen Health QR Code, a green QR code which allows its holders to travel across the city, providing strong support for companies and citizens to resume work amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.

Communities in Xiamen have applied an intelligent and smart system for epidemic prevention and control. Residents living in the community must register online to get a pass code and have their body temperature checked before leaving or entering their homes.

The Jinshan residential community in Xiamen has deployed intelligent robots to conduct the daily quarantine checks. The robots can make 1,400 phone calls to collect information about the residents' temperatures and health status, which has greatly enhanced efficiency and reduced cross-infection.
