1. XMFAO shares work experience at national seminar

Li Xiaoping, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, took part in a seminar that discussed the international work of the Communist Party of China, which was held by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee in Beijing on June 8.

Li explained the achievements that Xiamen Special Economic Zone has made under the leadership of the CPC and shared Xiamen's experiences in telling the CPC's stories to the world.

Since the establishment of the special economic zone, Xiamen has learned advanced experiences from highly-developed cities from home and abroad, as well as fully used the opportunities brought about by the opening-up policy to actively participate in global economic development.

The city has insisted on people-oriented practices in promoting development and modern governance, setting a good example for other domestic cities.

The city's foreign affairs office has fulfilled its responsibilities and has innovated work mechanisms to help foreigners learn more about Xiamen as a city that is renowned for its healthy living and working environment, as well as its high-quality growth.

2. Xiamen's cultural protection efforts win intl approval

The 2021 World Conference of the League of Historical Cities was held in Kazan, Russia from June 24 to 26, with 59 cities from 19 countries and regions taking part.

Yao Jianhong, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, delivered a speech at the conference to share Xiamen's experiences in protecting Gulangyu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and local intangible cultural heritage items.

The League of Historical Cities was initiated by Kyoto, Japan to facilitate communication and cooperation between historical cities worldwide. The league was founded in 1987 with 121 member cities from 66 countries and regions.
