Xiamen C&D Commodities, an agricultural products group affiliated with Xiamen C&D Inc, delivered a container of Deqing oranges to Vietnam on Jan 3, which was the company's first container sent to a RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) member country.

The RCEP agreement, which took effect on Jan 1 in China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and six ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam), help reduce the trade costs in the region, promote two-way investments, and bring more opportunities for companies to explore more businesses in RCEP member countries.

The RCEP agreement has benefited the trade of regional agricultural products.

In terms of exports, Japan's zero-tariff treatments include most aquatic products, fruits and vegetables, tea, and processed food. ASEAN member countries offer zero tariffs to China's processed prawns, potatoes, and sausages, and the Republic of Korea offers zero tariffs to China's deer antler products.

The zero-tariffs will help Chinese companies expand the export scale of agricultural products.

In terms of imports, China offers preferential tariff policies that will bring in more agricultural products such as tropical fruits from ASEAN member countries and processed snack products from Japan and ROK to offer consumers a wider range of choices.

With the RCEP agreement in effect, Xiamen C&D Inc explored the market actively and is bolstering its efforts to establish domestic agricultural products and advanced manufacturing products in the global marketplace.

More Xiamen companies will make use of the RCEP agreement to explore more international trade routes and markets in order to boost economic growth in China.
