Foreign professionals visit Xiamen Science City

A group of foreign professionals arrived in Xiamen Science City on July 7 to experience the area's favorable working and living environment.

The visitors include professionals in a variety of fields, including semiconductors, animation design, smart manufacturing, marine ecology, and more. They come from countries such as the United States, India, Japan, and Egypt.

Three of them are working in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, and expect to gain cooperation opportunities in Xiamen during the trip, said Liu Yuangang, an official at the Xiamen science and technology bureau, one of the organizers of the activity.

Earlier this year, Xiamen city and Tong'an district governments have rolled out a series of policies to accelerate the construction of Xiamen Science City and to encourage companies to set up operations in the science city.

The expats were deeply impressed by the local governments' determination and efforts to boost the development of the science city.

In addition, they also spoke highly of the surrounding living environment and supporting facilities.

After visiting an apartment building for high-caliber workers, which boasts complete facilities and a great view of the sea, Amro Abdelgawad, an Egyptian researcher at the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, immediately asked how to apply for an apartment.

Liu said that foreign professionals are welcome to live in Xiamen Science City, and the local expat service center will help them with the application.
