A delegation led by the Brazilian Sino Mining Association (ASBM) President Luis Guimarães visited Xiamen, Fujian province, on April 3 and 4 in order to promote the pragmatic cooperation among BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and accelerate the economic and trade growth between Brazil and Xiamen.

Kong Suting, deputy director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government, met and had a discussion with the delegation on April 3.

Kong said that Xiamen is speeding up the construction of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center (BRICS Innovation Center), promoting pragmatic cooperation among BRICS countries and enhancing the "BRICS Plus" platform, and sincerely invites all parties to participate.

Kong also said that as the most representative emerging market and the largest developing country in the Western Hemisphere, Brazil complements Xiamen in the economy and industry, has strong trade growth and broad prospects for cooperation, and Xiamen is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Brazil in various fields.

"We hope the ASBM will continue to give full play to its advantages and play a role as a bridge to promote BRICS pragmatic cooperation and friendly exchanges between Brazil and Xiamen," Kong added.

Guimarães thanked the Foreign Affairs Office for its previous efforts in providing opportunities for the ASBM to participate in the construction of the BRICS Innovation Center.

He also said that this year the ASBM will promote the landing of the BRICS Mining Forum in Xiamen, adding that he hopes the Foreign Affairs Office will assist in inviting more Chinese enterprises to visit Brazil for business inspections and negotiations and jointly promote economic and trade cooperation between Brazil and Xiamen.
