South African students visit Xiamen to experience high-quality development

Representatives from the 2023 "Understanding China's Modernization" Winter Camp, organized by the Confucius Institute at Durban University of Technology (DUT) in South Africa and led by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, visited Xiamen on Dec 23. 

The delegation, consisting of 50 members, aimed to study and explore Xiamen's role as a significant gateway to the international community, understand the contribution of the BRICS cooperation mechanism to global development, and deepen cultural exchanges.

Durban and Xiamen officially became sister cities in September, making Durban Xiamen's first sister city in Africa.

South African students visited attractions such as the Gulangyu Organ Arts Center. As a world cultural heritage site, the cultural relics and architecture on Gulangyu Island are not only a cultural symbol but also provide a comfortable living environment. 

The students walked around, paused to take photos, and experienced Xiamen's efforts to preserve and revitalize its cultural heritage, while also experiencing the warm winter hospitality of Xiamen.

Under the guidance of professional teachers, South African students paid a visit to the Red Dot Design Museum of Xiamen, where they had the opportunity to view and experience works which have recently won Red Dot Product Design Awards. 

As the BRICS partnership on new industrial revolution continues to progress, various high-quality projects are being implemented in Xiamen. The students also visited the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center, where they learned about BRICS demonstration projects and various exchange activities. 

During the discussion, the South African students said that their experience in Xiamen has allowed them to witness China's high-quality development and left a profound impression on them.
