An expat living in China for 15 years has come to Mount Huangshan three times, saying its scenery and atmosphere offer something no photograph can fully capture.

Danilo, a British expatriate with Serbian and Montenegrin roots, has built a close connection with China through years of travel and living in Shanghai. His relationship with Huangshan, one of the country's most iconic scenic destinations, is a story of enduring fascination.

His first trip came in 2016, when he visited the mountain with his family. In 2021, he returned with his young daughter, hoping to share with her the beauty of China's natural scenery at an early age. In January 2026, he once again turned his camera toward Huangshan, recording the views that moved him most.

For Danilo, Huangshan's appeal lies not only in its dramatic peaks, shifting seas of clouds and timeless charm, but also in the emotional experience it offers visitors. He said the mountain's beauty is impossible to fully reproduce through photography alone, and only by visiting in person can one experience its sense of wonder and healing.

He also said that if his images can help introduce Huangshan to more people, his Chinese daughter would feel especially proud.
