Visitors to Huangshan Mountain now have a new way to explore it. The East Gate and Donghai Cableway officially opened on June 11, offering a less-crowded route into the UNESCO world heritage site.

The new entrance is designed to improve accessibility. Travelers arriving at Huangshanxi Railway Station can take a shuttle bus to the East Gate Tourist Center in about 30 minutes. Buses from Huangshanbei Railway Station take around one hour. Drivers may park at Tanjiaqiao Passenger Transport Center and then transfer to a shuttle.

A key feature is the Donghai Cableway, the longest in the Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area. Stretching 6,638 meters, it carries visitors across valleys and mountain scenery in about 22-30 minutes. Eight-seat cabins and a high-capacity system make it suitable for families, seniors and first-time visitors.

Visitors should note that the East Gate operates under a real-name reservation system. Tickets for the scenic area and Cableway must be booked together via the official Huangshan tourism platform. Entry is only allowed within the reserved time slot.

There is no hiking trail linking the East Gate to the mountain. All visitors must use the Donghai Cableway, so checking operating hours in advance is essential.

For those seeking a quieter route and new views of Huangshan Mountain, the East Gate offers a convenient alternative.
