Overseas talent backs up Beijing's development

The administrative committee of Zhongguancun Science Park engaged eight overseas academicians and experts as overseas consultants for the park during an innovation forum in Beijing on Aug 23.

The forum, co-hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the administrative committee of Zhongguancun Science Park, aims to encourage overseas academicians and experts to offer valuable advice on Beijing's economic and social construction.

Guo Jun, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, said that Beijing is fueled to build itself into a national science technology innovation center at the moment, with science and technology innovations accounting for over 60 percent of Beijing's economic growth.

These eight overseas academicians and experts, as the first of Zhongguancun Science Park's overseas consultants, work in the fields of new materials, biomedicines and clean energy. During the forum, renowned scientists, entrepreneurs and overseas experts exchanged opinions on topics covering biomedicine technology innovation, challenges faced by aging societies, talent development strategies and clean technology.
