Zhongguancun Science Park will soon be home to a world-class integrated circuits (IC) design center–the Zhongguancun IC Park.

As a joint effort of the Zhongguancun administrative committee and Haidian district government, the new park is a key project for Beijing to develop the nation's IC industry.

Covering a land area of 5.98 hectares, the park seeks to attract the world's top IC designers by offering potential enterprises nine industrial service platforms covering financial services, human resources, overseas match-making, technology services, living support, market promotion, incubation services and other public services.

IC PARK makes full use of the important roles of high-end industries in capital economy and social development, becoming a new engine that guides high-end industrial development.

At present, the park is home to famous IC companies such as GigaDevice, Vion Technology Inc, Spreadtrum Communications, Ingenic and Tongfang Microelectronics.

Buildings in the park have all passed the assessment of the United States Green Building Committee and are fully equipped with intelligent camera monitoring systems, PM2.5 purification and monitoring systems and air conditioning systems.

By 2020, the park is expected to generate annual revenue of 8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), and advance its design capabilities in line with international standards to form the largest IC design cluster in China.

The park will also coordinate with the production base in Yizhuang, Beijing, and the testing base in Hebei province to support the IC industry.

This move will highlight the central role of Beijing as an innovative technology hub in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
