The Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences was put into operation at Zhongguancun Software Park on Dec 24.

Beijing Municipal government will cooperate with Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academy of Military Sciences PLA China, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Beihang University on the construction of the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences.

They aim to establish a mechanism that integrates quantum information resources and shares new resources, a talents introduction system and one for intellectual property sharing.

The academy should undertake the country's major scientific and technological innovations, service the country's key strategies and promote the development of China's quantum sciences researches, according to Li Meng, vice-minister of science and technology.

Chen Jining, acting mayor of Beijing, said that Beijing will strengthen its protection of intellectual property and create a more open environment for world-class talents and talented research teams.

Chen added that better services will also be provided and efforts are currently being put in optimizing household registration management, housing security, medical treatment, and children's education.
