Zhongguancun Science Park is now taking its scientific and technological innovations into the northwestern inland city of Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

The Yinchuan-Zhongguancun Innovation Center was officially operational on Dec 20, and is expected to provide a fast lane for the innovative development of Ningxia.

The center covers a total area of 100,000 square meters at Ningxia Entrepreneurship Valley. It plans to introduce 50 companies and form an innovation service system within a year. And within five years it will introduce 300 companies with an anticipated production value exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.52 billion).

On Sept 30 the People's Government of Yinchuan signed a strategic agreement with Zhongguancun Science Park's administrative committee and Zhongguancun Development Group to establish an innovative eco-system in Yinchuan.

Chen Wenqi, deputy inspector of Zhongguancun Science Park's administrative committee, said that "The center's operation within three months fully reveals the high efficiency of the innovative cooperation between Zhongguancun and Yinchuan."

The first group of 24 leading companies is cooperating with the innovation center and some 16 experienced innovation and entrepreneurship tutors have been employed to serve local makers and startups.

Yang Yujing, deputy secretary of the Yinchuan Municipal Committee of the CPC, said that innovation is the engine of development and Zhongguancun has world-leading experts and scientific research. Both sides will work on academic cooperation to build a platform for the development and integration of emerging industries.
