On Dec 28, the government of Haidian district announced that it would be cooperating with the Beijing branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on science and technology innovations.

Both sides plan to improve cooperation in five fields–innovation of scientific and technological achievement transformation mechanisms, construction of research resource systems and platforms, a CAS-Haidian center for science and technology innovation in Haidian District, science and technology financial layouts, and science and technology personnel training.

Haidian district has developed a long-term partnership with CAS and outstanding results have already been achieved in five major fields, including the establishment of a national laboratory, as well as activities relating to innovation and entrepreneurship. A platform for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements is currently under construction.

He Yan, head of CAS's Beijing branch, said that CAS will strengthen innovations relating to systems and mechanisms, and accelerate the industrialization of major achievements in science and technology. It will become a strong contributor to Zhongguancun's development.

Zhongguancun is currently entering a new stage of development, with increased focus on high-end industries and scientific innovation. The National Network Space Security Laboratory and the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences are currently under construction in Zhongguancun, according to Dai Binbin, head of Haidian district.
