China ushers in new era of internet of things

The World IoT Innovation and Application Forum, with a theme of "New Era, New Economy, New Application", was held in Beijing from Jan 22 to 23, marking the start of the first year of the world's IoT era.

Ambassadors, experts and scholars from more than 20 countries including France, Iran, Rwanda and the Philippines attended the forum, together with government representatives and academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

He Xuming, executive chairman of the World Internet of Things Convention, noted that China seeks to deepen cooperation with countries around the world in the IoT industry and added that construction of a global IoT demonstration platform through united efforts is called for.

He said, "The formation of the World IoT platform will bring tens of millions of dollars to global economic markets."

The preparatory group of the Committee of the World IoT Standard Working Organization was established with Shen Jie, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as its leader.

A high-end talk was also organized with topics including problems in setting world IoT standards and the key role played by them.

"IoT, AI and big data technologies will boost the development of smart manufacturing, which will help us gain new momentum in the global markets," Li added.

It is estimated that by 2025, billions of items and devices will be connected to the IoT globally and the market will exceed $30 trillion.

World leading IoT companies, such as Huawei, New H3C, China Mobile, SAP, Haier Group and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp, brought their new technologies, new products, and new development planning to the forum.
