China looks to develop industrial internet

The Industrial Internet Summit 2018 commenced at the Beijing National Convention Center on Feb 2, discussing the future innovative development of industrial internet.

Ma Kai, vice-premier of China's State Council, noted that industrial internet is an important cornerstone of new industrial revolution and intelligent manufacturing.

Industrial internet, the foundation of all-element pan-internet connection, is the "blood circulation system" of industrial intelligence. It is also a premise and basis for precisely matching global supply chain and enterprises' production system, manage the whole life cycle of a product and provide intelligent service.

Ma Kai also said that we should seize the opportunities brought by industrial revolution and obtain a full insight into the true meaning of industrial internet development.

Industrial internet is expected to influence 46 percent or $32.3 trillion of global economy in the future, according to General Electric, who coined the term industrial internet in 2012.

Miao Wei, minister of industry and information technology, said that the ministry will implement the strategy of innovative development of industrial internet, building three systems of internet, platforms, and security.

The summit also organized the Industrial Internet Development Dialog and sub-forums featuring industrial ecology and practice of industrial internet.

The Industrial Internet Industry League released a series of research results including the Standard System Framework of Industrial Internet Platform.

China is expected to establish 10 cross-sector and cross-field industrial internet platforms which will be capable of supporting enterprises' digital, internet and smart production by 2020.
