The "Innovation and Cooperation by Global Academicians" Parallel Forum held in Beijing

The 2019 Zhongguancun Forum-"Innovation and Cooperation by Global Academicians" Parallel Forum was held at the Conference Center of the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center on Oct 16. More than 33 academicians from 11 countries including the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Japan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, South Africa and China, as well as more than 210 people from all walks of life at home and abroad, participated in the forum.
The forum aims to promote exchange and cooperation between international high-end talents, especially academicians, so as to promote the construction of Beijing's national science and technology innovation center and international exchange center. Through meticulous organization, the forum has become a platform for exchange and cooperation among all parties.
The forum is divided into five major parts: speeches by leaders and guests, keynote speeches, high-level dialogue, the settlement of key projects, and the release of achievements by academicians. Wang Minglan, deputy general manager of Zhongguancun Development Group, presided over the opening ceremony.
Ma Junru, former director of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and vice chairman of the China Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and Gui Sheng, director of the Beijing Talents Work Bureau, delivered speeches.
The keynote speeches were hosted by Luo Qi, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a senior overseas expert from the Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association. Based on the theme of "New Trends in Global Science and Technology Innovation", Anton-Irzhi Krivtsov, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the co-chairman of the International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics; Eric, Maurice and André Leroy, fellows of the Académie Nationale de Médecine and the French Veterinary College, and Wu Ke, a professor at Sorbonne University, a fellow of both the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Engineering, an IEEE fellow, and a lifetime professor of Faculty of Electric Engineering, School of Engineering, Université de Montréal, gave speeches on the frontiers of science and technology in the fields they are engaged in.
The high-level dialogue was hosted by Lan Yubin, an academician of the Academy of Europe, a foreign academician of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, and a specially-invited expert appointed by the government.
Based on the theme of "Scientists should strengthen communication and cooperation with China", Fujishima Akira, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Gao Wei, a fellow of the Royal Society NZ and the New Zealand Academy of Engineering, Vasilyev Yury, an academician of the Russian Academy of Transport; Aleksei Shkadarevich, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Ivan Chervonyi, an academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering, and Diane Hildebrandt, an academician of the South African Royal Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences of South Africa and the South African Academy for Science and Art, exchanged their opinions.
Some important cooperation projects were signed, including: the launching of the "Zhongguancun Science City International Talent Port and Overseas Academician Innovation Center"; "Zhongguancun Science City International Talent Port and Overseas Academician Innovation Center", jointly built by the Haidian Sub-park Entrepreneurship Service Center and the Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association; the "Russian Academician China Exchange Center", jointly built by the Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association and the Sino-Russia Cultural Cooperation and Development Center; the "Ukrainian Academician China Cooperation Center", jointly built by Global Talent Network, the Center of Ukrainian Silk Road and the Ukrainian Globe Technology Development Corporation, and the "French High-level Talents Introduction Strategic Cooperation Agreement", signed by the Global Talent Network and Association des Experts Français et Chinois. Oleksandr Ryzhkov, an academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Vessels, Andrii Buketov, an academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Transport, Nedbarlow Oleksandr, an academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Vessels and an researcher of the Institute of Technical Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, also all signed an agreement to settle in the Zhongguancun Haidian Sub-park.
More than 20 academicians issued new scientific and technological achievements on the spot and in the course of the afternoon. Subsequently, the academicians will communicate with relevant colleges and enterprise units. It is hoped that more academicians will settle in Zhongguancun to share their scientific and technological achievements more widely.
The forum was sponsored by Beijing Talent Work Bureau, Zhongguancun Management Committee, Haidian District People's Government and Zhongguancun Development Group. It was undertaken by Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association, Global Talent Network, Zhongguancun Haidian Sub-park Entrepreneurship Service Center, and supported by some overseas institutions.
