Thirty-two internet enterprises, including e-commerce giant Alibaba, promised to make their businesses more creditable on Monday.

The pledge was included in an initiative disclosed during the China Internet Integrity Conference in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, that is designed to improve the role of the social credit system in developing e-commerce and the sharing economy across the country.

The enterprises promised to strictly abide by the E-commerce Law and ensure products sold on their online platforms are not fakes.

They also said they will strengthen joint efforts to fight dishonesty in cyberspace.

The enterprises involved in the initiative also include JD, another e-commerce heavyweight, Baidu, China's dominant search engine, Qihoo 360, the country's biggest provider of internet security services, and Tencent, the parent of WeChat, China's most popular instant messaging service.

The conference, organized by the China Federation of Internet Societies and Shaanxi's Cyberspace Administration, included forums on the application of big data, cloud computing and blockchain records in building the social credit system.
