Xigua, the video platform of tech giant Beijing Bytedance Technology Co Ltd, disclosed that it will launch its livestreaming quiz from Saturday, which will once again spark a craze like last year, when millions of Chinese played livestreaming quizzes.

The new game, dubbed Top Hero, will pose 12 questions. Those who can correctly answer 12 questions will share the prize pool.

Though the firm didn't disclose the prize amount, some companies poured as much as 100 million yuan into a single round last year.

Since the beginning of 2018, a group of such apps gained popularity overnight in China but soon got banned by authorities due to lack of qualifications and inappropriate content.

Compared with last year, Xigua said that this year's quiz will put more emphasis on knowledge with topics covering a wider range including history, physics and mathematics.
