Xi Ru, deputy director general of the department of international cooperation and exchanges of the Ministry of Education (MOE), led a delegation of three to visit Beijing Foreign Studies University (BISU) on Nov 23.

They were welcomed by Chang Yu, secretary of the CPC BISU Committee, and Zheng Chengjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university.

Chang thanked the department for its long-standing support. He then briefed on the internationalization work of BISU in the areas of international student affairs, overseas education, cooperative education and educational exchanges with Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan.

He mentioned several programs serving the university’s internationalization, including BISU college, the "Chinese +Tourism" training program, the summer program on "An Overview of Modern China and City Development" and its international organization internships.

Xi Ru affirmed BISU's talent cultivation and the role it plays in diplomacy. She said that the MOE attaches great importance to high-quality openness to the outside world, and encourages BISU to promote international cooperation with its advantages in multilingualism, tourism disciplines, regional studies and Confucius Institutes.

The delegation visited the university's history museum, the China Academy of Culture and Tourism and the Belarus Research Center. They viewed an exhibition on the development of the translation discipline at BISU, and attended a Chinese class for international students that adopts virtual reality technology.
