Chang Yu, secretary of the CPC Beijing International Studies University (BISU) Committee, led a delegation to France and Saudi Arabia from May 8 to 15.
In France, Chang attended the China-France "Dialogue of Ancient Capital Civilizations (Beijing-Paris)" forum. He was also invited to host the "Olympic Cities" forum.
Chang also led the delegation to Brest Business School and College de Paris to discuss talent cultivation, student exchanges and collaborative opportunities in tourism and arts.

The delegation visited UNESCO headquarters and met with Ambassador Level Representative of China to UNESCO Yang Xinyu. They learned about the organization's educational and cultural heritage policies related to China and the relevant programs.

The delegation also visited the Chinese embassy in France. Zhou Jiagui, minister counsellor for education at the embassy, met with the delegation. Zhou noted the stable China-France relations and the prospects for educational cooperation, encouraging BISU to engage in more collaborative endeavors with French colleges and universities.

The delegation also held a seminar to discuss the prospects and challenges of the Confucius Institutes in France with the relevant officials. The two sides agreed to explore new ideas, such as utilizing alumni and business resources, to expand the influence of the institutes.

The delegation also went to Saudi Arabia and met with Chang Hua, Chinese ambassador to Saudi Arabia in the embassy. Chang talked about Saudi higher education and the Saudi Vision 2030. The BISU delegation reported the university's collaboration with Saudi universities and think tanks and listened to the guidance of the ambassador. They also discussed the plans for Saudi students to study at BISU this autumn.

The delegation then paid a visit to UN Tourism's Middle East office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to explore educational collaborations. The officials invited BISU to participate in the curriculum development of a new university which will be jointly built by UN Tourism and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism.

A meeting with the representatives of the Saudi Research and Knowledge Exchange Center was held on May 12. The two sides discussed tourism cooperation and the translation of Chinese and Saudi classics.

The representatives from the Saudi Ministry of Tourism and Saudi Ministry of Education told the delegation that they were eager to cooperate with BISU in tourism talent cultivation during the meeting between the two sides. They also noted that Saudi Arabia will send a great number of students to study tourism in China.

The delegation visited the Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University on May 15. The representatives proposed to set up a specific institution to promote cooperation between the two universities. They also expressed the hope to jointly build master degree programs with BISU.
