Professor Su Qi from Beijing International Studies University (BISU) was among 13 veteran translators honored with the "Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation" in this year, the highest accolade given by the Translators Association of China (TAC).

Wang Gangyi, executive vice-president of the TAC and former deputy director of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, and Cheng Wei, vice-president of BISU, visited Su on June 3 to present her award, as she was unable to attend the ceremony.

Wang congratulated Su on her winning the award and lauded her contributions to Chinese translation and international cultural exchange. Cheng expressed respect for Su's long-term efforts at the School of Japanese Language, Literature and Culture at BISU and invited her to the celebration of the university’s 60th anniversary. Su reminisced about her career journey at BISU, expressing her concern and hope for the university's development.

The "Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation," established in 2006 by the TAC, is the highest honor to be given to a Chinese translator. It recognizes translation professionals who have made contributions to the industry, international communication, and cultural exchange, and who are highly esteemed in the field.

Other officials from TAC and from BISU's Office of Human Resources, Office of Retirement Affairs, and the School of Japanese Language, Literature and Culture were part of the group that visited Su.
