Arab countries' tourism promoted at BISU

The inauguration ceremony of the "Arab Culture Month" series of activities, organized by the Education Development Foundation of Beijing International Studies University (BISU) and the Sheng International Education Public Welfare Fund of the China Overseas-Educated Scholars Development Foundation (COSDF), was successfully held on June 19.

Zheng Chengjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee, vice-president of the university and vice-chairman of the Education Development Foundation, attended the event.

Xiao Rui, director of the Sheng International Education Public Welfare Fund of the COSDF Management Committee, introduced the background of the event and the cultural and tourism talent training project. Representatives from various tourism sectors of Arab countries spoke about the tourism resources, cultural characteristics and talent needs of these countries. 

Zheng pointed out that this event will further strengthen BISU's role in promoting Sino-Arab cultural and tourism cooperation, enhance mutual understanding and provide a new platform for teachers and students to appreciate Arab culture and engage in Sino-Arab cultural and tourism cooperation.

Representative from COSDF shared the significant measures taken by the institution to promote the internationalization of education in the wake of the BRI's rapid progress, including jointly establishing an international talent training base in Qatar and several student exchange programs with universities in the Arab region.

Representatives of tourism sectors in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Jordan and other countries and regions vividly showcased the natural wonders, ancient cities, modern metropolises and sports events of these countries in engaging speeches and beautiful audiovisual presentations, encouraging teachers and students to appreciate the charm of the Arab world.

The Qatar Airways representative said that with the recovery of the global tourism industry and the booming development of the Arab tourism industry, the Arab region, with its unique historical and cultural symbols and modern tourism highlights, will provide new ideas and development spaces for cultural and tourism talents.

On the day of the inauguration ceremony, a cultural market was set in front of the Qiushi Building, where teachers and students experienced the unique charm of Arab culture through performances, interactive games and experiential activities.
