BISU president visits Uzbekistan

Ji Jinbiao, deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing International Studies University (BISU) Committee and president of the university, led a delegation to visit Uzbekistan from July 6 to 9.

The delegation visited Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies on July 7 to participate in the 20th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition of Confucius Institutes in Central Asian Countries and attend the opening ceremony of the "Confucius Institutes and Exchanges and Mutual Learning Between Civilizations" symposium.

At the symposium, Ji exchanged ideas with leaders from the Chinese International Education Foundation, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, and Shanghai International Studies University.

On July 8, Ji accompanied Huai Jinpeng, minister of education, to visit Silk Road University, an Uzbekistani university co-established by BISU and other parties. He reported to Huai on BISU's development and its contribution to the joint construction of the university.

Ji highlighted BISU's dedication to international cultural exchange over the past 60 years and its talent cultivation achievements. From the joint construction of the Silk Road University to hosting the Sino-Uzbek Educational Forum, BISU aims to continue leveraging its strengths to support China-Central Asia cooperation and promote educational innovation.

Huai congratulated BISU on its achievements in its cooperation with Uzbekistan, and commended its practical and consistent support for the Silk Road University. He also emphasized the importance of nurturing talents for Sino-Uzbek relations and Central Asia's development.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Otabek Mahkamov, First Vice-President of Silk Road University Dilmurod Nasimov and several other officials from China and Uzbekistan.

Ji and Nasimov signed cooperation agreements on the "Chinese + Tourism" dual degree program and the establishment of the Tien Shan-Aral Sea Ecological and Tourism Research Institute.

Both sides agreed to collaborate on international talent cultivation, scientific research and the establishment of ecological observation stations.

The visit aimed to implement the consensus reached by the presidents of China and Uzbekistan in January and during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and the China-Central Asia Summit. It demonstrates the proactive efforts of BISU to innovate and promote educational cooperation between the two countries.
