BISU facilitates cultural and tourism exchanges

The 2024 Advanced Seminar on Silk Road Cultural and Tourism Development and the Seminar on Enhancing Capabilities of Cultural and Tourism Research in Central Asian Countries (Uzbekistan) was held at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) from July 4 to 15.

The seminar was co-organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Uzbekistan, BISU and the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee.

The opening ceremony was held on July 5, hosted by Zheng Chengjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university. The seminar was attended by 30 officials, experts and scholars from Uzbek government departments, research institutions and universities.

Renowned experts and scholars from institutions such as the Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNAA) were invited to lecture on topics in culture and tourism.

Participants visited the Beijing Grand Canal Museum, Beijing Library, the Juyongguan Great Wall, the National Museum of China and Chinese Archaeological Museum from July 4 to 9. These visits allowed them to experience China's historical and cultural heritage, promoting deep cultural exchange and integration.

Participants attended the Tenth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations in Qufu, Shandong province. They visited historic sites such as the Confucius Mansion, Confucius Temple and Confucius Museum on July 10 and 11, deepening their understanding of Confucianism.

They also attended the 2024 Global Youth Conference and China-US Youth Camp in Ji'nan, Shandong, on July 12 and 13, and spoke with young people from around the world.

In addition, they visited the Shandong Museum and Shandong Radio and TV Station and learned about Shandong's rich culture and history, modern media development and tourism resources.

They visited Qingdao University and the university's History Museum on July 14, and they witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Qingdao University and the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

They visited the Shandong Handmade (Qingdao) International Exhibition and Experience Center and the TAG Art Museum, experiencing the blend of art and humanity.

The participants returned to Beijing on July 14 to attend the closing ceremony. Cheng Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university, congratulated them on their successful completion of the seminar, adding that the seminar would further promote the development of cultural and tourism industry.

The seminar created a platform for academic exchange and knowledge sharing among scholars from BRI partner countries, advancing tourism development and connecting people through tourism.
