Beijing International Studies University (BISU) held this year's Beijing International and Area Studies (IAS) Forum at the Sunlon Xiangshan Conference Center on Sept 8.
The event attracted over 160 participants from countries including China, Germany, Greece and Hungary. They came from diverse fields such as political science, economics, literature, communication, management and history, highlighting the broad impact and relevance of international and area studies.

At the opening ceremony, experts delivered speeches on the significance of the forum and recent insights in the field. Keynote addresses were given both in person and via video, covering cutting-edge topics and pressing issues.
Chang Yu, secretary of the CPC BISU Committee, presented a keynote report on BISU's achievements in international and area studies, emphasizing the importance of literature translation, field research and international collaboration.
Ji Jinbiao, deputy secretary of the CPC BISU Committee and president of the university, said that the forum underscored BISU's commitment to Sino-Foreign cultural exchange.
The university aimed to enhance its role in global academic and cultural exchanges to support the development of a self-reliant knowledge system to serve Beijing's role as the center for international exchanges, said Ji.
The roundtable discussions provided a platform for experts to share interdisciplinary and innovative methodologies on trends, dynamics and research findings regarding IAS.
In eight sub-forums, participants delved into IAS theories, various regional conditions and international exchanges in Beijing. There was consensus on advancing theoretical and methodological innovations to enhance research precision and contribute to a distinctive Chinese knowledge system in the field.
BISU's Institute for International and Regional Studies also launched three new academic brands: "International and Regional Studies: Beijing Forum", "International and Regional Studies: Beijing Library", and "International and Regional Studies: Beijing Tea Meeting".
The forum also featured a book fair and other themed activities.

The forum, organized by BISU's Institute for International and Regional Studies, aimed to foster global dialogue on international and regional studies by bringing together scholars, policymakers and business leaders from all over the world.
