Beijing International Studies University (BISU) was recently secured national research funding under a central government initiative to advance local scientific and technological innovation. The supported AI project marks a milestone in the univesity's integration of education, research, and talent development.
The project, titled "Development and Application of a Quality Evaluation Platform for AI Simultaneous Interpretation", will establish a scientific, efficient, and quantifiable quality evaluation system for AI simultaneous interpretation and to develop a proprietary evaluation platform.
This platform will assess AI interpretation outputs across multiple languages and scenarios, evaluating such qualities as accuracy, fluency, timeliness and contextual adaptability. The goal is to address the current lack of unified and authoritative evaluation standards in the field of AI simultaneous interpretation. By partnering with enterprises in big data and engineering, BISU aims to facilitate the application and commercialization of research outcomes.
The approval of this project reflects national and Beijing's recognition of BISU's interdisciplinary strength in multilingual processing and AI. It underscores the university's role in serving national strategies, contributing to Beijing's development as a national center of politics, culture, international exchanges and technological innovation, and advancing regional technological progress.
The Central Funds Guiding the Local Science and Technology Development initiative in the AI sector is a key national initiative aimed at optimizing the allocation of scientific resources and guiding local technological innovation.
