A few days ago, the reporter learned that Daxing District has upgraded and transformed the main road green belts in the new town. A total of 8722 linear meters of tree-lined colorful slow-walking walkways have been built around the 6 main roads of Beixing Road, Jinxing West Road, Binhe Street, Qingyuan Road, Huang Village West Street and Xingfeng Street; a new sitting-out area of 6,900 square meters has been built; the area of plant landscape has been increased by 12.01 hectares; and more than 3,600 new types of street furniture have been equipped, which connect the city and nature, and provide citizens with places for slow-walking, leisure, entertainment, recreation and fitness. 

The triple style of walkways is appealing 

There are two special tree-lined slow-walking walkways near Daxing Xinfeng River and Beixing Road, the Blue Ocean Walkway and the Purple Maple Leaf Walkway. The two unique walkways drive the residents nearby to walk out of their homes and onto the walkways, either for jogging or walking. 

Since last year, Daxing District Urban Management Committee has built Blue Ocean and Purple Maple Leaf theme walkways in Beixing Road and Red Cherry Blossom theme walkway in Jinxing Road. In the area of 6.64 hectares from Jingkaipu road to the south side of Xingwang road, each walkway adopts decorations and patterns of bright colors. Meanwhile, seats, garbage cans, signposts, lawn lamps and other new-type street furniture with Daxing characteristic are laid, forming pleasant sceneries in four seasons. So far, the 1.8m wide three-color walkway has been completed, with a total length of 8,722 linear meters. 

Building a green space with Daxing characteristics according to local conditions 

The tree-lined slow-moving system built in Daxing District has improved the quality of urban infrastructure construction and enhanced the fine management of the city. According to the relevant responsible person, to build a livable environment, improve ecological environment, and enhance people's well-being, Daxing District focuses on building a tree-lined slow-moving system, improving the quality of green space, renewing street furniture, and creating a multi-functional and integrated green open shared space with practical function, landscape function, cultural function and leisure function. 

The relevant responsible person of Daxing Urban Management Committee introduced: "In the construction of greenways, we pay attention to the connectivity of the existing green space system. Through the integration of small and micro parks, small and micro green spaces, cultural corridors and other characteristic landscape resources in the new town, we will form a unique linear urban space and build and improve a green ecological environment for leisure and activities." In face of the problems of closed and fragmentary green belts and lack of slow-moving system, we conducted the overall design of green space, tree-lined slow-moving system and street sitting-out areas, integrated scattered green spaces and reduced hardening pavement, which effectively combine green spaces with the slow-moving system to ensure that every street sitting-out area and slow-moving garden road is shaded, thus turning green spaces attached to roads to a place integrating landscape-viewing, slow walking and leisure. 

Located close to Kangzhuang Park, residents' morning market, large-scale commercial supermarkets and residential buildings, the tree-lined slow-moving system at Daxing Hebing Street, which is about 470 meters long and 20 meters wide, and has a green area of 1.02 hectares, has really solved the major life issues of nearby residents. 

With this small greenway, I can rest and chat with my neighbours after visiting the morning market. Besides, at ordinary times, I can accompany my little grandson to run here. How convenient it is! A resident living nearby said with a smile. 

Carefully Decorate the Daxing New Town 

Daxing District has adhered to fine urban management, and has been careful in both building a livable environment and constructing a tree-lined slow-moving system. Every part of the tree-lined slow-moving system in the new town has been carefully designed, elaborately carved, repeatedly proofed and meticulously implemented. 

While improving the green landscapes, Daxing District has beautified and upgraded the old distribution boxes on both sides of the municipal roads, making every item in the city scenic. "Every tree-lined slow-moving system is a work of art", said Jin Hao, deputy director of Daxing Urban Management Committee. 

The usage of colorful permeable concrete and patterned porous stone walkways, green and gray auspicious clouds boxes, leisure ashlar wood stools, sculpture accessories and other new-type modern street furniture has greatly improved the environment and landscapes of Daxing New Town. 

With the completion and operation of Beijing Daxing International Airport and the construction of Daxing Airport Economic Zone, Daxing Urban Management Committee will further strengthen the fine management of the city and speed up the construction of public service facilities. Daxing District will make full use of the vacated space and build another batch of small and micro green spaces and pocket parks, expand the coverage of parks and green spaces within a 500-meter radius of residential areas, continuously improve the quality of Daxing city, and construct Daxing into a clean, beautiful, magnificent and open city.
